Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...

I am, as we speak, recovering from shoulder surgery. My rotator was completely torn and the bone had healed improperly from my break many, many years ago- this piece was a razor sharp claw and was making a tear into my bicep tendon. How does this relate to you? I see that you are a biker? at least that is what your name tells. did you fall from your bike and land on your shoulder? for me, I was thrown from my horse and landed on my right shoulder and broke the humerous (upper arm bone- nothing humerous about it!). less than an inch from the socket. given my age (i was 12 at the time) they set the bone and then put me in a slilng and then banded me around the waist to hold the sling close to my body. things have changed considerably over the years...one, they most likely won't band you as they find that that leads to pneumonia, you have to have full lung capacity (that is why they no longer band broken ribs). If you have a full break and/or a compound break/fracture, it may require pins to hold the bone in place. Your ortho will explain this and more when you see him. Please- ASK questions!!!!If it doesn't sit well with you, go seek another opinion. You will be immobilized for a good 6-8weeks while the bone heals then referred to physical therapy of which I strongly advise! The doctors know how to operate but most lack bed side manner and communication skills, I found out a great deal from my Physical therapist. I wish you the best and know that you must be very uncomfortable (especially at night). Did they give you anything to help with the pain? Keep us posted, xoxoLyn
I was a biker for years but, this isn't how I got hurt. I was doing some remodeling in the kitchen and I was carrying out the old 8ft piece of counter top. I stumbled and fell down, broke the counter top and my shoulder. I haven't see the scan results but, my Dr. said it is broken just below the ball that goes into the shoulder socket. He said this is not a good place for a break of this type. They gave me anti-inflammatory and Muscle Relaxer Meds. to deal with the pain.
Hopefully, I won't have to have surgery. I guess we'll find out Monday. Thanks for your reply.
