Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...
I found that Tiger Balm works just as good as any other Icy-hot out there and it is cheap to buy.
I hate having to call for refills; especially opiates that have all kinds of red tape involved. Scooter2339 mentioned that he likes mail order refills; I do too except for pain meds. In my case, I am required to use mail order for any over 90 day maintenance drug. This gets real dicey when it comes to refilling my pain med. I have to mail in the actual paper prescription (the doctors are not allowed to call or fax those in: DEA that is STUPID) and hope that I get the med back to me before I run out. I use Express Scripts and the total turnaround time (mailbox to mailbox) varies from 7-21 days (sometimes even more). It is real difficult for my PM doctor to understand this and he has the DEA and the State looking over his back so he cannot prescribe enough extra to allow for this moving delivery window. So I basically, over time, try to build up a few extra pills so I have a buffer. It is amazing what we folks with chronic pain issues have to put up with.
Well, ended up I was being a bit over dramatic. I got a call to pick it up, no issues. OF course, I ended up stuck on 95, and with sciatica sitting for a long time is painful! I ended up having to abort the trip, go home, and ice my back. I hated not being able to pick up the script, but I couldn't make it to the Dr's office due to the pain. THAT'S CRAZY!!
I wish they would do mail order, but I have a funny feeling that won't happen with the Norco. They make you pick up the script, in person, and you have to call 4 days before you run out. That's fun.... I don't really enjoy having to "count" my pills, and it's hard to keep track because I have good days and bad days, and sometimes a script lasts longer than not. OK... deep breath. LOL... sorry that was so long!
As far as the back, the epidural works somewhat. I have to have my belt on... or my hip starts singing. The leg, and foot are still going numb. I guess I may never get rid of that??
Here's hoping for less pain for us all!!
XOXO
We wouldn't have to deal with this if people were honest, and legit, with their meds. I know several people who sell their meds. It's crazy! It pisses me off that after 28 years, I require more than just Motrin, or Tylenol, and I have to go through hoops to get the relief I need!!!
Scooter 2339,
I like Tiger balm, but it's so sticky I have a hard time with the filmy feeling it leaves, and the scent is quite offensive at work. Are you getting your opioids through the mail?? You must have a very relaxed Dr.
Nice to meet you both!

It's a pain, but they are trying to control the abuse of controlled substances.
Boo
I hear you! Trust me... I work in healthcare and encounter drug seekers on a regular basis. You can tell because they're asking for meds from people who can't give it to them. I am not a nurse, nor a Dr, and when I'm trying to explain the study I am going to perform; I am interrupted to be asked for meds.
How does a 30 day script work? Are you allotted so many pills per day?? What if you need more than they allot?? Please expound on this!
By the way, how's the bladder infection? Better? You must be feeling better with the antibiotics on board. I hope you are!!
Take care

it used to have refills on the pain pill prescription, but NY State passed a law that people can no longer have refills on controlled substances such as Hydrocodoen, and Oxycotin etc.. The dr must write a new prescription, every 30 days, or however they prescribe it for you.
I feel a bit better today with the infection. Pumping cranberry juice and water, and getting my rest. I was running a low grade fever too, and just feel wiped out.
Hope tomm is a better day for you!!!! Sorry the shots didn't help much. It's a hit and miss with those. One time I had a shot in my hip joint, and it worked for about 2 weeks! I was in heaven for 2 weeks.
The last time I had it done, it didn't work at all, and even feels worses. I'm sure once I have my surgery and start losing the weight, I will notice a difference, and my pain level will decrease wit less weight on my joints.
Nite,
Boo
I am giggling. Tiger balm sure is strong. My peeps at work complain with bengay or icy hot. Couldn't imagine the tiger balm. I work because, honestly, if I were to stay home I'd sink into a horrible depression. I'm only 41... but I don't know what my work future will hold. I had a heck of a weekend. My foot was going totally numb. My foot is usually, topically, numb. That's my baseline... along with my calf. This weekend going through Shoprite... my left foot lost feeling entirely. Not happy. I was using my cane too. :::sigh::: Taking care of patients helps me to bypass my feelings. I can put my focus on something else other than my pain. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I had to call the Dr. on Friday because I was in incredible pain. The medicine is, usually, not strong enough as it is. Friday night I took two. I told the Dr's office this on Monday. I told them, for the fourth time, that the pills aren't strong enough. They were going to try to get me in sooner... but I couldn't work the schedule. I have an appointment on the 12th... I'll try to stick it out until then. The nurse is not nice. I don't even know if she will pay attention to me. I'm scared. I love what I do. I want to be able to work. I have been giving serious thought to what my abilities are. I tried to work out yesterday. I went very slow!! I did the elliptical, my total body (only for upper back), and an extremely light bag workout. I am only pushing myself because the rude nurse told me all I needed was to "exercise." I'm SSSSOOOO regretting it today. My body doesn't know what happened. I am icing now, and am going to be stretching as well.
Maybe I need to move to California? Oh wait... I am incredibly afraid of earth quakes. I don't know how you guys deal with them. I'm sure you get used to it!!
Sorry for the long rant...
Thanks scooter!
Here's hoping for less pain for us all!!
