Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
Although I fundamentally disagree with those who say here is no connection between vaccines and autism, I do (and will) respect their opinion, but I feel as though I must express mine.
I sincerely think that vaccines play a role in the development of autism (especially my son's), whether it be the preservatives or the multiple live-virus shots given to underdeveloped (or weakened by mercury) immune systems.
I pay no credence to any study put out by the IOM, pharmaceutical company, or any other body affiliated with the CDC. Nobody wants to accept the responsibility of creating an epidemic, so they are doing everything in their power to refute all claims, even if it is through flawed science. If they did admit they were at least partially responsible, they would be opening themselves up to multitudes of litigation cases, which is why they have their heads stuck in the sand on the issue.
When it comes to my son, I have the science to prove it. The test results showed that vaccines (and the mercury-laden preservatives) were a contributing factor to the development of his autism. How else could you explain the 200+ micrgrams of mercury he has been unable to excrete that has affected his neurotransmitter function. How else could you explain an off-balanced immune system with indicators of mercury toxicity? Go to Eli Lilly's corporate website and look at the Material Safety Data Sheet for Thimerosal. That stuff is pretty nasty. Mercury is the 2nd most toxic substance known to humans, second only to uranium, so how can the conceivably think it's safe to inject it into our children's bodies? In a flu vaccine containing 25 micrograms of mercury, a child would have to weigh 549 pounds for the levels of mercury to be considered safe. Unused portions of flu vaccines containing Thimerosal must be disposed of as a hazardous waste.
But do I believe vaccines are 100% bad? No. I do believe in safe vaccinations, which means getting all the preservatives out of them, spacing them farther apart, and splitting up the combined vaccines. Profit CANNOT come before public health. A good website with many research articles to go to is: www.safeminds.org.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
i'm not against vaccines but i do think that there are too many of them. i also believe that in addition to the mercury in vaccines, i think that the environment plays a huge role. where i lived before, there was a steel plant, oil refinery, chemical plant and at one point, we were told not to eat the fish out of the river due to the high content of mercury. well, hell if it's in the river, does it not make sense that it also goes into the water supply. i don't cook or drink water out of tap anymore. it's all bottled. but well said and a very good post hun
