Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
I recently designed a t-shirt and was told it was a "little too outspoken". It was simple print on the t-shirt that read:
"1 in 3,000 had Polio
and it was an epidemic
1 in 150 have Autism
and we're still fighting
DO THE MATH
RAISE AWARENESS
CURE AUTISM "
I didn't think this was being outspoken, but I guess to understand Autism, you have to experience it. Some people are just afraid of what they don't know. I still wear it proudly because something needs to be done. What do you think? Is this too outspoken? I hope not.

As time goes by more and more people will know more and more folks on the spectrum.
I sure hope we find out how to help stop the epidemic.
