My son is receiving SSI payments, and I am wondering if anyone else is having similar problems with it... Here's what's wrong:
He began getting payments in May '07, and they told us he would be getting $400 monthly. I send in my husband's paystubs at the end of every month. Well, they kept changing the amount he gets, from $400 down to $200, then down to $19 a month! Then, I get a notice stating that Jonathan was overpaid, and that we now owe $700. Then, my husband's job cut out overtime, so we were making less. They raised it again back to $400 a month.
Then, in August, there were 5 Friday's that month, so he got 5 paychecks. So, the lowered BACK down to $200 a month, and sent us a letter stating that we now owe an additional $200!! This is getting ridiculous! It's adding up fast, and I haven't done anything wrong! They make a mistake, and I have to pay for it? I don't see why they can't look at next month's calendar and see that there will be 5 pay checks that month??
Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm starting to believe that the Social Security Administration is run by a chimps who have no idea what's going on!!
Anyone have any advice for me? Anyone know how to fight the SSA and get them to change their system of 'guessing' what someone's future wages will be?

It's frustrating. You ask them a question, and they repeat themselves over and over.
They estimate what you will make the next month based on what you made the previous month. But the problem is that sometimes he gets paid 5 times in one month (because sometimes there's 5 fridays in a month), so they say, "Your income went up by a lot last month" No it didn't! He didn't get a raise!?!?
I don't know, maybe it's not worth it? Just one big headache anyways...
