I believe that exercise helps with coordination, balance, eye-hand coordination and social enteractions. The brain releases Endorphines that helps with focus and good rest at night.

i have been reading some old books about autisim and have seen that there is some doubt about what autisim is . i am a severe manic depressive who by the symptoms could be a mild autistic {am impared in my will to interact with others ,dont easily make friends with peers ,cant sustain intreast in conversations with others ,use language in very odd combinations to describe things ,very focused on narrow subjects ,despise change,cant leave things alone must take apart ,hurt myself on a regular basis (not intentional just happens ) } i lift weights almost daily causes me to feel most agresive. wonder if increased strenght in disturbed children is a good idea

I have a 7 yr old boy who is in the autism spectrim and if he dosen\'t get any exercise he is a bear to handle. I don\'t know how it works but it helps him deal with situstions better. He goes to O.T. and they exercise there I don\'t know the meaning behind it but I am thankful it helps.

I\'ve had my son in gymnastics since he was three. He loves it. He\'s now 7 and he goes twice a week for 1.5 hours each day. The coordination helps him. He\'s truly a monkey! I believe it has helped him in numerous ways. Plus, he sleeps better.

His aid has also mentioned that when they have PE in class, as well as recess, he is able to focus better in the classroom. But, then my son is also dx with AD/HD. So, I know the motor stimulation aids in focusing.

My 16 yr old Asperger\'s son loves sport\'s. Right now he is in b-ball at the high schhool. He does marching band. It seems to be true if they get exercise they are less agitated or edgy. Hope this helps.

I\'ve found that going for a walk, or, even better, going for a hike, really helps my son relax and feel in better control of his body. He also does better if he\'s able to listen to music through headphones. There was an article in the Sunday New York Times art section on how music affects the brain. Did anyone see it?

I guess that is why I always rolled something up and put it stuffed under the kid's upper lip to stop the nosebleed, it worked so much better than pinching the nostrils. Now I know why! Thanks!
