Thank you so much! I wish I could be there....ohhhhhh its gone mad with all the IEP's being done at the end of the school year.....planning for the next year....btw....can ya ask a question for me? I wanna know....since we plan an IEP for the following year...if our kiddo's need more services than orginally agreed to/ needed.....why do we have to wait till the school budget will allow for those services to be rendered? Ok..my son's situation.......OT and adaptive equiptment were not included in last years IEP meeting.....however....this year we had an emergency IEP..well......3 actually....but in 1 of em..his doctor wrote an RX for services she wanted him to have....yet....I was told...the school had already met the budget and he will recieve the services come next year....well....our kiddos' needs are constantly changing.....so why is it they do not budget for special needs programs/ students....when they already are very well aware of this? Help! Thanks again! years!

wait a minute? the schools budget should have now bearing on accomodating his needs!!!! i am sorry people but if it means cutting out the big football games to make sure every childs needs are met then so be it!

i would like to know why is it if a parent advocates for their child at iep they are blown off, but when a complete stranger joins the iep meeting and does exactly like the parent did in previous meeting, the school takes them serious? how is it any different if i say something or someone else says it, same words, different voice and face?

P; That's my biggest gripe!! You hit the nail on the head! I have said every single word my advocate and then attorney has said, but it's only taken seriously when they say it. Why is this? I think the Directors of Special Education should be taught to listen to the parents FIRST. We know our child better than anyone else. So, Jordanc when you go can you ask that question, Why parents aren't taken seriously? I'm about to lose my mind over it and even considering discrimination. Please let us know how you find these conferences I'd like to go next year.

On top of that our city has a bond election in 2 weeks and the school are asking for each property owner to give them a few hundred dollars a year to build new football stadiums. I am getting in the right mind to vent the truth about the lies and malice, but I am afraid to upset the stradigy for the due process. I think the director of special ed is the main cause of the malice and corruption. The teachers aer frustrated, but the issue is site based management and the individual principal has teh responsibility to get the administration to service them. the home school principal has made it very clear I need to advocate and we need to not include her in that fact. Once I get the attention of the TEA and the school is mandated to perform for Oli they go through the motions, but his experience in the most inappropriate setting which is not a cheap investment for the district, it is managed in extremely poor judgement and without regard or real life! Here they will spend hours in meetings but WILL NOT provide therapy that is beneficial. They encourage uneducation and dropout, so they have less to do for the same income. Here more than 50% of the population DO NOT GRADUATE> they are falling through the cracks.... the district has plenty of money for parties and remodeled administration buildings! they even have belly dancing parties in Dallas! No wonder there is noting to pay for speech therapy for a bright child with a speech disorder, that could easily be treated in pre school, effectivly and cost effcient. what the problem is the history has been of people in denial and now there ARE many more kids and the districts are needing to be punished and you need to report the violation before they pretend to listen, then you have to catch them in lies and then you have to have the state have laws to lock the administrators up for lying in order to deny FAPE. Then they may start to listen!
