Okay! I've really started considering homeschooling my son. He's currently in Kindergarden. It seems like the only time he has meltdowns or behavior issues is at school. I even began medicating my son at the request of the school. It seems like my son's young teacher cannot handle the added pressure of teaching a High Functioning Autistc student. His doctor recently sent the Vanderbelt Assesment Scale Worksheet to his teacher and his one to one aide. They're answers couldn't have been more different. In fact I believe the Teacher was actually extremely harsh with her ratings. She called him "Spiteful and Vindictive" "Angry and Resentful", accused him of "Stealing items of nontrivial value" It seemed like she was talking about a whole other child. I feel from day one she pre-jugded my son based on the fact that he's autistc. The only time he has problems is when he's at school. I need advise....How many of you have chosen to homeschool? Has it helped your child or done more harm to thier development than good? I'm trying to make my decision before the begining of Christmas break. I want to do the right thing. I'm really stressing out here. HELP!!!!
Have you considered a cyberschool? I love it for my kids, 2/3 of whom are on the spectrum. They can interact with others through virtual live lessons, which is a plus, and in my state the school is free and so are the accompanying therapies. LOVE this option!!!
