having trouble with my girlfriend. Communication

I dont know what to do anymore. It seems like my autism is showing up a lot with girlfriend. Im feeling sad lately i was born this way and wish i was normal. I love her but I know its hard for her because of my autism. yet she still loves me unconditionally. Seems like I offend her even when I am trying not too. Can anyone recommend any book that will help me communicate better with her? like explains how dating works with neurotypical women.

Sorry you're going through this.

I don't have any particular book I can recommend, but in addition to any book you find on improving communication (or social skills, since they're related) you might try to find a social skills group in your area. Often the local Regional Center or Autism Society will be able to point you in the direction of one or more. That might give you a safe space to practice whichever skills you want to improve without offending your girlfriend.

Consider bringing her to a major autism conference on autism. The Autism Society of America has a conference in Bethesda, MD this summer July 10. There, she can learn what she needs to know about it and how society's arbitrary practices of social intercourse are not necessarily universal; her interactions with you can be learned with your help, of course to do what you can for her customs from her native culture, the same way someone might learn to adjust to the unique customs of a foreign country where one spends time.
