How do you find out if your autistic?

When my child was diagnosed he was evaluated by a developmental pediatrician. Though the speech therapist referred us to her. If this is for a child I would look at whether they are delayed or not and maybe start with a visit to their pediatrician. For adults, a psychologist or psychiatrist would be where I'd start the questioning process.

There may be other possibilities, just none come to mind right now.

I would suggest going to a psychologist and ask if they specialize in autism. Psychologists can do testing. I am guessing you have already done the research.

A qualified psychologist will interview you about your history, life, etc. and then make a judgment. It's not as clear of a test as, say, a blood test.

If you wouldn't mind providing more information, is this for you or someone else? What has led you to think that autism might be the appropriate diagnosis?

i was reffered by my psychatrist and psychatric nurse.
i saw a specialist aspergers team. there i had to see a speech and laungage therapist, psychatrist and a psycholigist for ADOS testing.

mine went to a developmental pediatrician. However,, if your child is of school age, the school can also be requested to have the psychologist do testing.
