Hello I'm new here . I could use a friend AND some advise . My grandson has been newly diagnosed with autisim . He will be 3 next month . When he went for a check-up when he was 2, it was obvious things weren't "okay ". I have moved back and live with my son , grandson and dsughter-in-law . She spends her time at the hospital and on the phone with a doctor . It's for her . She has fibro my alia . Wish she would pay attention to the baby as much . No play dates , no interactions with other moms/childRen . I keep suggestion it , for both their benefits . I am worried about him . I'm a retired nurse and get a bad feeling about this whole situation . Someone help . Have suggestions ? Preston (grandson) temper tantrums have gotten worse . Back to sleep with his cuppy ( looks like a bigger bottle ). Sleeps with mom/dad in their bed , shreds when we leave the house until we get back...and does not like clothes /diaper . I really could use some help here...anyone ?

Hello it sounds to me that your a fantastic grandmother and supportive to him. Every child with Autism is different and has different symptoms. My son used to try be clingy and have tantrums all day with a lot of making him feel safe and using calming aids I found it slowly diverted his attention now when he's angry or upset he finds the thing that calms him. For my son it's a little colour changing light that soothes him. Hes now seven and fully Independent and sleeps on his own. Your grandson may find it difficult to Interact with other kids so I agree the more time he spends with other kids is good for him to learn how to act socially appropriate when he is older. My son refuses to interact at all with children and I wish now I made more of an effort to mix him with kids. Hope this helps and if you want to chat more I'm here

    I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy.It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.

    This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...
