Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
My EP isn't a fan of cryo ablations either. He was one of the first in our city to do them but he switched back to RF and says they are just as effective (if not more) with less risk than cryoballon. I was surprised to hear that because I thought cryoballon was "all the rage" these days.
I'm not quite yet at the point where I need to have a procedure done but my episodes are slowly starting to occur more often. Like you said, I don't want to wait until things really get out of control so I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row now. The minute this crap kicks in more frequently, I'll be laying on a table getting the procedure done asap.
