Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Tomorrow I will be at 8 weeks post-ablation, and though my EP keeps saying not to get discouraged, it's really hard not to. I'm planning on calling to pester them again tomorrow, mostly because I was scheduled to stop taking Xarelto at 8 weeks, but am guessing I'd better not quite yet.
Huge weepy sigh. I've quit saying "my heart goes out to you" since who would want it now? But I do hope you will hang in there and begin feeling better soon.
I will be praying for both of us tonight.
Don't get discouraged... especially during the blanking period.
I'll join the bad-day-crowd.... Trent, i went to Duke today.
Good News: I have not been going into V-tach!
Bad News: AFIB still running wild.
I'm over there about 10 tomorrow AM to turn in my holter monitor. I'll be getting a speed-read to see how much AFIB I've had in the last 24 hours.
We've all been there, and felt that way. In some sense, I like you and the rest of us, are 'normal'.
Robert
PS: May be lucky or not... may get electro-cardio-verted FRI.. and then go to the beach!
Why in the world would you possibly think you were a failure? With all youve gone through? Youre still here and youre still kickin! Dont give up.
You have good doctors looking after you at Duke they will surely be able to help you!
@ Barb. I know its hard not to get discouraged! Sometimes it helps to cry (you dont want an ulcer on top of a-fib!!). Think of those p words: positive and patience.
It surprised me that your doctor said you would be able to stop blood thinners after 2 months!? Wow, one of the first things both my pcp and EP said when we started talking about ablations was you wont be able to discontinue taking blood thinners. It must have to do with your CHADsVAS2 score.
Setbacks. After a pretty rough couple of days, yesterday evening my hubby and I decided NOT to take a job that would have relocated us to Brasilia, Brazil for 7 years. It would have been SO COOL; new place, new language (I had even started to learn Brazilian Portuguese!) new culture, new food and new friends. We decided that my up and down health situation was just not worth the chance. I would have cried but I was too tired. This morning I woke up the sun was shining I was back in nsr and I thought Ok, Ill just have to find something new, exciting and challenging here. And all my (many) doctors are here too! Its time to go out and enjoy what the day has to offer me. So I went out and picked some raspberries in our back yard not quite as exciting as Brazil, but itll do as a start.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you: TrentTaylor, daisy0808, Bereth and rfclark. You guys keep me strong.
Take care.

I am trying to take one day at a time here in Florida! My shoulder is still hurting bad -go back to Ortho on Monday. I pray no surgery.
Still very tired and had the shortish a- fib attack last week. By short, I mean for me, as before I was on Sotalol they lasted over 2 days. So feel fortunate but apprehensive about the future.
Please take care of yourselves and keep the posts coming.
God bless and hugs.
