hi there, I was originally on sotolol about 4 years ago...I had all of the side effects you spoke about...maybe you can speak to your cardiologist about adjusting the dosage??..I ended up asking the cardio to take me off the sotolol as I was finding it hard to work and look after my family because of the dizziness... hopefully it settles down for u..best wishes shannon

I take a very low dose of Sotolol, 40mgs one xD at night. And if I do have an afib, which so far after my ablation, I have only had about two very minor ones, then in that case, I take 80 mg and it goes away in a short period of time.

I asked for this change due to extreme tiredness. And so far I am doing okay.

thanks for the input - I am going to ask him to take me off - I am on 80 mg twice a day also and I am soooo tired and I just cant lose weight no matter how hard I try - I go to WW - I just had my blood tested for anemia and I am ok even though my GP thought I looked so anemic - I hopw my cardiologist takes this seriously. I do have a pacemaker so I think the sotalol is overkill. I just dont want to live like this. thanks again for input.

Hi pamdidi, two Dr.s wanted me to have a pace maker, so that I could tolerate Beta Blockers. I have not done this.

I know of two gals who are doing this successfully.

For me Beta Blockers (metoprolol) slow me down way too much.

What is you pulse rate average?

I was on 80 mg 2xd. In the beginning it made me very very tired. It made it feel like and elephant sat on my chest daily it took a couple of months before it went away. Then they had to increase it to 120 mg 2xd. It felt just as bad but for a shorter period. It also use to give me chest pain and arm pain like I was having an heart attack. The worst were the muscle spasm I hot in my arms and legs. My EP took me off it cold turkey. I had a bad reaction similar to withdrawls. I then had an ablation and back in February they put me back on it but had to take me off of it because it had started prolobgibg my QT waves. Good luck wow you have pacenaker and taking soltol? I think overkill tok. Do u monitor your heart rate?.

I am thinking over kill also - my first checkup after the pacemaker was implated he noticed that I had a 2 second vtach - hence the sotalol - but the pacemaker did its job so I think its overkill

Hi I had a dual pacemaker inserted on March 8. My heart rate was in the 30's. Ihad been taking Sotalol 40mg twice a day. I was fatigued all the time. I now take 80mg twice a day. I was not happy to have to increas the Sotalol, but it keeps the high heart rates mostly at bay for me, with the pacemaker keeping me at 60 bmp instead of dropping down to the 30's and passing out.

I seem to have a tremendous appetite now though. I have put on 6 pounds but have a lot of energy and feelbetter than I have in a very long time. Hope that things work out for you. I did everything to avoid a pacemaker, and am so happy things turned out the way they did.

the pacemaker keeps my heart rate at 74 - occasionally I feel a rapid pulse but by the time I take my pulse its 74 again. Basically he put me on the sotalol because of the vtach I had - I dont know what he will say on the 20th - at least I hope is lowers the dose - I am sooooo tired I can't function!

Metoprolol made me seriously fatiqued but Sotalol did not. I did however gain weight for no apparent reason.
