Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Don't know if my alcohol (2-3 glasses wine / nite or caffeine 2-3 cups per day may be triggering AFib.
Cutting back the wine to 1 glass with dinner and 1 cup of coffee to see if that reduces the afib-trigger
I gave up caffeine when diagnosed....took me a month to wean myself. I sure did enjoy a good strong cup of coffee, but decaf is fine now, and black tea every so often
It took me a year to totally abstain from Alcohol. I didn't want to give that up, but I knew I had too. I don't miss it....3 yrs. now w/o even a sip.
As soon as my rate drops from taking PIP Metoprolol, I take an easy jog around the block. I convert by the time I get home. ( Unless, I have found out..... my episode was caused by my catastrophic thinking...Stress)
