Pradaxa and 3 months later baby aspirin. I was taken off all other medication a week prior to my ablation/isolation procedure. Hope this helps!

My second ablation in June I was put on Tikosyn and Metropolol a week before the procedure and stayed on those for 3 months. Two weeks ago I came off of those and now am on a low dose of metropolol for my blood and coumadin. My Dr decided to leave me on the coumadin for now because of my blood pressure, age and weight. I have been in NSR since my ablation.

My second ablation was a year ago October. I have an appointment this week with my EP and in my eyes I have been cured and I am hoping he will say the same. He does not declare it a success until a year later.

About 4 months after the ablation I was "weened" off the sotolol. I did end up being put on metropolol because of a fast heart rate. I have tried to get off that, but have not been successful. I have not had any irregular heart beats (yeah!!!) but that pesky heart does like to speed up at times and the metropolol helps to keep in a NSR.

I had beg to be taken of coumadin since I did have a TIA about 3 years ago. I am now on 2 baby aspirin a day with a promise that if I ever feel anything irregular I will run to get back on it.

In a perfect world I would like to be off any medications, but I am not silly enough to take chances.

It feels so good to be in NSR and hope that the AF is gone for good.

I was kept on Sotalol and Coumadin after my ablation. At the 3 month post ablation my EP started to "wean" me off the Sotalol, and put me on Toprol. At the 6 month post ablation, he started to 'wean" me off the Toprol. I was taken off the coumadin around the1 year anniversary of my ablation. I am now off all meds, except aspirin. My ablation was almost 5 years ago.

JBTWIN- Are you completely afib free after 5 years?

I had none, other than wafarin for a few weeks, and luvox for a few days.

I had an ablation last December and was taken off all medications except warfarin. MY EP advised me to stay on warfarin due to a mitral valve repair operation I had several years earlier. No meds/no AF since.

Thanks to all the people who replied. I had two bad days of episodes of apparent afib, the EP checked me and said it was atrial tachycardia due to post op inflammation of the heart. I am fine now, back to steady NSR with 60 heart rate. The EP told me to drop the Multaq, and stay on warfarin and metoprolol 25x2. I am not supposed to worry if I have arrythmias in the 3 months after the ablation, easier said than done. Thanks again, this is a group of good people.

I have had 2 ablations. I am better not cured.

I've had one ablation this past March. I was on Tikosyn before and after the ablation, stayed on it for about 3 mos. I was on Pradaxa for about a year. Just got off it now (7 months after the ablation) Hooray!!!

Heart2222- Good to hear from you! Sounds like you are doing very good. Did the A-tach you were having post ablation resolve completely?

my A-tach disappeared completely. I would like to know whether other people had unusual heart episodes after their ablations. My EP says to wait 3 months after the ablation before start worrying

I had an ablation on Oct.19, 2011. 5 days after the ablation had a very unpleasant episode of A Fib (nausea, dizziness, and trouble breathing) but my HR only went to 128. I was started on Multaq for next 4 months. After I stopped Multaq had a couple of heart flutters on 3rd day, but since then, no problems.

I am only taking metoprolon 50 mg. bid and a very small dose of warfarin. I think I'm going to be switched to aspirin on my next visit. My Dr. has no faith in any of the heart drugs, and thinks they cause more problems then they do any good. Remember, he's just one Dr., but he's the right one for me.
