hi mary ann, i have had two nuclear stress tests...no problems either time...got a nice cup of tea at the end and a sandwich, the biggest pain was it took a long time to do over 3 hours the last one..but it is a great diagnostic tool for your cardiologist...best wishes don't stress...lol u will be fine

I went into afib as they injected the radium. I will not willingly take
a radioactive stress test again.
However that was just me. I'm sure others would have been OK.
We are all different.

Had my echo done this morning. No big deal, but do any of you remember how I've said that I'm convinced there is a link between stomach or hiatal hernias and afib? Well, I was in NSR all during the echo until she put the probe under my sternum and pushed up. BAM! Instant afib. I just know there's a connection.

My stess test is on Monday, and I think I'll get all my results afterwards.

Hi....had the nuclear stress test done twice, both with excellent results. The test itself is just time consuming but I had no reaction to the dye/test itself!

Hi Mary Ann, Always scary to do something that is new and concerning your heart.
The nuclear test stress was so easy... I was scared also .. for nothing.
This may sound strange but they put these foam blocks around
you and it was THE most comfortable feeling. I told the nurse
that I would like them in my bed and she said everyone says that.
So, it was comfy cosy .. the only thing was hanging around all
day ... bring a good book or a friend ... Good luck!

Don't stress over the stress test. Although it is a rather lengthy (and boring) procedure, there is not much to it. As advised by others here, it is yet another test to determine if there are definite reasons for your Afib episodes. In my case, they induced the stress part with another drug, which was somewhat weird and unpleasant, but very brief. I do not know the reason for this, nor did the cardiologist explain it (he was very lacking in people skills). Recently, as a repeat test, my EP put me through the standard treadmill test with echo (said it was time for another). Halfway through this, it induced an episode of PAF due to my "performance anxiety". (In past tests I always passed with flying colors). It was rather brief, they found nothing unusual, and sent me on my way. For me, PAF may be (in part?) an anxiety issue, as you have mentioned also. Ask your Dr. about taking alprazolam for anxiety. Another member of this group had recommended this to me. I take the smallest amount occasionally, and it has been very helpful.

I am glad to see other people have had good luck with their stress tests
it was possible it was my nerves that caused the afib. I was very
nervous.
