Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
But, he did have reason to believe that nuts were triggers.
Maybe, cut them out for awhile....worth a try?
Same thing happened to me , my afib spun out of control in the weeks leading to my ablation.
If you were going to anybody other than Natale or the French at Bordeaux then yes I would wouldn't be so optimistic!
But you got a date with Michelangelo......THERE is NO one who is better...PERIOD and can fix this! Hopefully he won't finf the LAA triggering and you'll be one and done!
Now repeat after me Yi Pee Kay Yay!!!!!

Youve got the best doctor and his staff looking after you so just lean back and let them do their magic.

Sugar Afib as well if it is cane sugar. I have some allergies and sensitivities and most except the sugar are to healthy foods. Hang in there your heart needs healthy, it may be just reacting to get you back to old habits. laurab
As for your level of fitness, etc. I am thin, eat well, but lightly and don't exercise enough lately because it seems to be a trigger. But being relatively fit seems to have no impact on my afib, which is very crazy making for me. You would probably be much worse if you hadn't been taking care of yourself. I feel your pain, so hang in there. I wish I even had an ablation scheduled. Things will be better soon, I truly believe.
Congratulations on your weight loss and the change of diet. That is great.
As far as your afib is getting worst, well, to me, afib does NOT just happen, it ALWAYS has a good cause within the person's body. Again in my opinion, mostly it has to do what some chemical change in the body because of the diet (whatever may be).
So, I think, including more nuts in your diet is more than likely the reason for your recent frequent afib episodes. Nuts were very strong triggers for me before my ablation. The effect of them in the beginning, was cumulative, meaning I could eat them for a few days with no problem, and then BAM, the afib would come. So, I stopped eating nuts, and my afib stopped. However, later, I was very sensitive to them. If I ate nuts, I would go to afib 6 or 7 hours later, EVERY TIME with no exception. So, I stopped eating nuts. Also, anything with cream cheese was a killer for me. So, I avoided all cakes and pastries in all parties. The good thing was that I could drink lots of beer, wine, and coffee with no problem :-)
Okay, here is another very far out idea for you: I also noticed, if I included a little bit of meat (beef or chicken) in my diet, I would get less afib. I was a vegetarian for about 20 years before I came up with afib first.
To find the answer to my afib, I turned almost every stone. One experiment was to eat a little meat once a week to see if it made any difference. That seemed to reduce the frequency of my afibs. Now, I am NOT sure if you cut back eating meat all together after your diet change.
So, I would say, cut back the nuts first to see if they were the problem. You have to give your body a chance to re-calibrate for a few days before you see any results. Also, eat some meat if you don't after your diet change.
Also, I am 100% sure that you will be okay after your ablation with Dr. Natale as McHale said it. 4 months after my ablation, none of my triggers (nuts, omega 3 fatty acid, etc) did bother me. But, yesterday my heart got irregular and I was going through bursts of afib since I had a bunch of Cashews the night before. Of course, I am NOT happy about it. But, that is life and I have to deal with it. It seems to me my scars are healing and NOT effective (may be) any more. It is 11 months after my ablation. We shall see.
On another note, I think the notion of "We are all DIFFERENT" is not correct. I have noticed a lot of members say that. If that was TRUE, then the drug companies had to make millions of drugs for different people for every disorder. But, fortunately, we are all VERY SIMILAR and we can use each other's experience. That is the reason web sites like DS, WebMD, etc are useful.
Yes, not every therapy or drug works on everybody, but in general, they work for MOST people. That is the reason the drug companies are making BILLIONS selling one single drug for a particular disorder. So, please be open to what other people are doing to lessen or overcome their afib. It just might work for you too.
Even we could have learned from EBxxxx (Mr. Bentonite). I am sure what he did probably would work for some of us to get rid of our afib. Just as chelation worked for DougL (Doug). That is the beauty of this site that we can hear how other people got rid of their afib.
Good luck with your ablation. You will be very happy after it is done. And that is a promise.
To be okay after waking up from your GA, ask them to give you what Michael Jackson got, they know what to give you. That was what I asked and I got for GA. It was really fantastic, absolutely no side effect or nausea afterward. When I woke up, I felt great.

eb2340. There is little to learn. He professes bentonite and psyllium in lieu of conventional medicine. He compares doctors to criminals. I've read his posts many places.
Bentonite is a laxative and I guess if you think colon cleanses cure afib, you should investigate it. I cannot find any legitimate website that says anything good about bentonite for heart health. But this one is worth reading as there are risks:

I do believe food affects body chemistry and therefore can have some effect on the body at the cellular level.

I'll report back on how it goes. The weird thing is I don't react immediately to nuts. I eat them everyday but I "only" have 1-2 episodes per week. If nuts were the problem, wouldn't I have episodes daily? Maybe not. Maybe there is a cumulative effect.
If it's not the nuts, then it's definitely the change in my diet that has been the difference. I'm sure I completely messed up the chemistry in my body. For 25+ years I ate junk. I suppose if you make any sudden and drastic changes to your diet your body is going to react somehow.
And no, I'm not going back to my old ways. I'm enjoying being a normal weight again!

You might want to try Vitamin Shop for one tube only to see how you like it.
I would be really interested to hear how cutting back on nuts works for you. I, too, eat nuts almost every day and have for years. Small quantities to be sure, but I still eat them. I don't see how they could be a trigger for my afib, since I was eating them long before this started, but maybe somehow I developed a sensitivity to them.
Whatever, if you do see any difference, I would love to hear!
Just for your info, the effect of nuts on Travis might be very different form how the nuts affect you. So, if his afib episodes stops after stop eating nuts, it does NOT mean you will get the same results by not eating nuts. So, the best way to find out, is you stop eating nuts and see if your afib episodes become less.
Also, before I came up with my afib first time, I used to eat nuts and took fish oil for years with NO PROBLEM. Then, one day, I started going to afib. It took me close to one year before I realized the nuts, fish oil, cheese, etc were the problem and my triggers. I stopped eating them, the afib stopped. I managed my afib for over 10 years just by diet without taking any drugs.

I am a big believer of research and statistics. However, sometimes my body behaves differently from what the research shows. Fish oil and nuts is the case for me. They are both very healthy, but unfortunately they cause I go to afib for me even now, after my ablation :-( So, I try NOT to eat them in spite of their health benefits. Such is life. It is what it is.
As far as bentonite for cleansing or colon cleanse, I agree with Mayo, never done it and never will. Eating lots of greens have strong cleansing and detoxing effect for the body. That is what I do, eating greens for detoxing and cleansing.
I think what EBxxxx meant, was that you detoxify and use the bentonite to get rid of the toxins. I really did NOT pay attention to his posts. Live and let live, this is internet and I can choose what I read, right? :-) Really, no time to read and to respond to everything.
But, I am glad for EBxxxx since he has found a solution for his afib and for him it was the bentonite :-) . At the end of the day, it is important for all of us to find a way to avoid afib and have a good quality of life.
Good luck to everybody in finding a good solution for the afib. I guess by now we all know that the ultimate solution is an ablation with doc Natalie.

Theres something very fishy about oil. Again, this depends on what youre consuming. I would rather get my arteries greased for a well oiled machine from fish/sardines. However, most are now farm raised or polluted. I look for purified DHA with low EPA, which by the way the EPA has been shown to cause AF.
EB? I hope we never see the likes of him again. Anyone who steals a persons good name in an attempt to discredit their research and endless input has no place at this table, with or without nuts.
