Now it's time to just relax and trust in your doctor and yourself. I'm really glad I went through with it and I've not regretted it for one second.

Thanks so much for all of your support. It seemed when I first scheduled this that it was eons in the future. Now it's HERE!! And I don't feel ready. Can I be awake (conscious sedation) for all those hours during the ablation? What will I feel like afterwards? How can I lie there for 6 hours without moving? All these questions just keep going thru my head when I'm trying to get some sleep. Sleep is aluding me...

You can relax now, the hardest part is the waiting and preparation (mentally and otherwise). You've asked all the questions and done your homework.
I felt the same way until the last couple of days before. Then I became excited and looking forward to it so I could put it in my rear view mirror.
Now just sit back, relax and let the Drs do their job. All you have to do now is just show up. You will get through it fine. We're all cheering for you!

If you are like me, you may like to control things. I used to want to get in the cockpit of the airplane to make sure they were doing things right and obviously I don't know how to fly a plane. Same thing with doing ablations. In my mind I think I might be able to perform one as I know how to solder... but the reality is I can't perform an ablation.

Like Rick (rfreeze) says, you did your homework and now its time to push forward and put your confidence in your doctors. Good luck, the numbers are in your favor. Your job is to stay calm and take care of yourself. Keep yourself occupied with those tasks.

Like anything else that is anticipated for any length of time; it will be over before you know it. Just think, several of us have done it more than once, and the second time we knew exactly what we were getting into, and still chose to go through with it. I'm not trying to make light of the situation. I'm just trying to let you know that it probably won't be as bad as what you are imagining. Our minds can certainly get the best of us. Being nervous is normal, but try not to let it get the best of you. Be extra kind to yourself this week. Get a massage, watch a favorite movie, take a bubble bath, treat yourself to something new if you can. I wish you the best. We are rooting for you! Here's to you and a future free of AF!

I really was more stressed before the procedure than on the actual day.
Have no memory of the ablation. It seemed that 10 minutes passed---- then I was in the recovery room. The 6 hours afterward were uncomfortable, but doable. If worried about back or neck pain, you can arrange for pain medication (in IV) beforehand. I was allowed to have a small pillow.
Be sure to ask questions beforehand about anything that concerns you.

Thank you ALL for your encouragement. I really do appreciate it!! I will be out of communication from Wed 3/21-Sun, 3/25. I have to go there for pre-op the day before, then the day of ablation, staying that night at the hospital (you all know the drill), and then i'm required to stay in town for another night and then if all ok ,go home. So you won't hear from me for awhile afterwards. Just a heads up.

Again, thanks for the support and answering my many questions!! It's helpful to know a bit what to expect.

Petey, you are exactly right. I'm a bit of a control freak . In this case, it's way beyond me, so I have to leave up to the experts!!
