Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I've taking multaq for one month and feel an uneasy feeling in my chest like my heart is fluttering. Not sure if this is a side effect of the med or A-Fib. Also feel weak and tired all the time, plus feeling that my heart has missed a beat. I'm going to see the cardio guy tomorrow and hopefully he'll have the answers.

I'm curious if anyone else on Multtaq has experienced the same side effects.

Hi everyone is different with medications,I was on Metropol and sotalol before Multaq and had awful fatigue depression and suicidal thought on Sotalol. I was put on Multaq 2 months ago and for me it's been a God send. I have a few flutter beats here and there but no fatigue, as a matter of fact I feel as if I've regained my strength and stamina since my open heart surgery last August and subsequent arrythmias.

I am Multaq twice a day. I have been on it since Feb of this year. So far so good. I feel pretty good on this medication. Once in a while I do feel flutter but it does not last long at all, maybe a few seconds.

I am not a doc; everyone seems different, there are different mixes of meds reported on this forum. depends on your doc's preferences and your reaction; positive and negative.
I was on Multaq but dropped it because of reported adverse effects on the kidney - and I only have one of those.
for me, now, aspirin, bisoprol, amiodorine, cardizem and a diuretic work. you need to have confidence in your doc and be able to have a conversation about your concerns. be well, Rich

I was on Multaq for about three days because my cardiologist was using it to convert me to a normal rhythm. I felt horrible while I was on it, but that was probably because I was in Afib. I had a lot of fatigue also.

You definitely should let your cardiologist know. Multaq is an antiarrythmic medication and a side effect can be an arrythmia. Even though you are taking it to stop the a fib it can cause others. Keep us posted.

I have been on Multaq for 1 year after ablation
no side effects at all.

I have been on multag for 16+ months and I did have the same feeling as chambliss's in the first 1-2 months. It was horrible, but it finally went away. multaq really works for me, but now i have mild muscle twitches often and my dr suggests i stop multaq for a month to see what happens.
