I've been on dilitiazem for a year and Multaq since the end of March. I've had light headed spells ever since. My cardio took me off the dilitiazem mid August when my heart rate feel into the mid 30's. Afrer the first week I felt fine. Two weeks later I passed out walking. I was on a monitor which didn't show much except for some slow beats and pvcs. The cardio doc dropped the Multaq to one pill cut in half twice daily, starting Monday.
I've had one episode that Monday evening but since then so far so good. It should be noted that I have been arrythmia free since Feb. My feelings for me is I'm healed from the open heart and cardioversions and maybe I don't need all these drugs now.
I hope that cardioversion goes well for you and you can get off the meds. I think the meds cause more problems than sometimes the arrythmias.

I was on Multaq fallowing a valve repair and maze procedure and a few failed cardioversions. It made constantly nauseous! I couldn't eat a thing for weeks and lived off of cola and ginger ale. It got to the point where even thinking about drinking those made me want to hurl.

I no longer am on multaq. I instead take Toprol XL & Digoxin to slow down my rhythm. You're right! Some med side effects are FAR WORSE than just living with A-Fib which I will have to do until an eventual transplant.

I just started on Multaq last week and have not had any real problems so far. I did notice a loosening of my bowel movements for a couple of days and do feel a little tired but that's about it. I still do have some irregularity epsiodes, but have noticed that my episodes feel much different on Multaq (I used to take flecainide). Now, it feels more like my heart is skipping beats than just beating fast. Fortunately for me, I can relieve it pretty quickly with diltiazem.
