Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Thanks for warning about magnesium citrate. You are very correct. The amount will be different for everybody. I take less than a teaspoon every day.
I am impressed with your knowledge about supplements and minerals in foods. That is great.
Do you think the bone broth is helping with your afib? Preventing it? The bone broth has a lot of good minerals. That is for sure.
Thanks very much for the info.
As for the bone broth, I'm not sure if it stops it, but it does seem to make me feel better. A pot of chicken soup is always a good thing isn't it? LOL! I simply roast a chicken, (costco has organic), eat it, cut off any for sandwiches/salads, toss the chicken into a crockpot, next morning or few hours, take the meat off for soup, strain the broth. With that you can make soup. Then, toss the carcass into the crockpot again, with a small splash of vinegar which helps to release the minerals, (same for beef bones) and cook overnight again. That broth can be cooled and frozen for use at your leisure. I cook it for as long as it takes to turn the bones into mush. I do strain all broth, hate to choke on a mushy bone.
The bones are now safe for your pets too if they like that kind of thing, or to be used to make pet snacks.
Thanks for all the info.
That seems low for mag, 200mg. When I did the math, I think my number was around 400. But then that would be an average everyday dose. Factor in illness, stress, adrenal fatigue, and a host of other things, and that would probably require upping the dose from there. But with mag. you always want to do it in increments. At least that's how I understand it to be, and it does make sense. My body seems to be using what I'm taking so far, with no visits to the porcelain gods so I think I can now up it by about 100 to 200. I'm a chicken on ever starting anything new. Like I'm waiting for the world to stop or something when I start anything new like that.
Petey, how many mg are you taking or is it with Potassium as a supplement?
I am on Micro K which is 20 MEQ which converts to 1500MG daily of Potassium. But I am not on any form of Magnesium. My Vaseretic has a diuretic in it.
Thanks,
Travis
magniesium orotate. And I take between 1000 and 1500 of
potassium per day. And when I do blood work those values
are on the high end but not over. So my dr. says thats a good
range.
I will say I'm not consistent about doing it.
