Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

"Thats the thing with dabigatran; its novel. Dabigatran thins the blood enough to prevent more strokes with fewer intracranial bleeds than warfarinas demonstrated in the 18,000 patient RE-LY trial, 12,000 of whom took dabigatran."
Works better, less brain bleeds.

I learned how to say Da-big-a tran. It impresses alot of people when I say it... I mix in things like "well tolerated" and "non-inferior" and people look at me like I'm some kind of Electrophysiologist.
Actually, I remember Dabigatran because it sounds like an Italian with broken language (I'm half Italian so I can say this stuff) talking about a long train ... I'm a takin da bigga tran!"
