Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Hi everyone! I just want to say I am still doing excellent after my 2nd ablation 1 year ago this week. Despite the CHF symptoms I am feeling pretty good! Such a HUGE difference compared to how I was a year ago. I am able to do cardio and I sleep better at night! I wanted to share with you all the short article that was written about me by the Florida hospital. It is in the magazine called Best in Care. I am in the Summer 2014 issue. A link is posted below. Feel free to read it! Also for those that are thinking things can't get better because of afib. I'm here to tell you it can. It may take 5 different heart medications, 4 failed attempts at cardioversion , 2 cardiac ablations and a heck of a lot of hospital visits and sleepless nights all in a span of 2 years. But it will! Just remain hopeful and proactive with your health!

Thanks very much for posting your ablation success story. That is heart warming and inspiring. It gives people with afib hope that better times are absolutely in reach.
I am very happy that you are doing so well. I am just curious if you are taking anything to bring up the output of your heart.
In my case, after the ablation in Dec, 2013, my heart output was at 40 (relatively low). I was told the reason for such a low output was the fact that I was in persistent afib (100 average heart beat per minute) for almost 9 months prior to my ablation. So, they put me on Lisinopril (5 mg once per day). My last echo in March showed my output was at 45. So, I am improving.
What are they doing for you? Taking Lisinopril or something else?

me to to have an ablation to. Have an apt. with my cardio in July to discuss this. I am so glad you are doing so good.
Scott, when they told me I had CHF my output was at 55-60% so it wasn't becasue of that. However earlier in 2013, about 3 months after 1st ablation, my output dropped to 45% so they had put me on Linsinopril for a about 4 months. It had brought my out back up to 55%. They still do not not know why I had a fluid overload.Crazy thing is my BNP's levels has always been elevated just not in the 2,100 range like last year. I'm thinking I might have got it from the 6 different arrythimas I was having everyday for about 6 weeks after my second ablation. My heart was probably tired! I have another echo scheduled next month. I will let you know the results of it.
