Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Bystolic is a beta blocker like petey says so maintaining your low heart rate, which does make it harder to exercise without feeling low energy. You need your heart rate to increase with exercise as that speeds up oxygen transfer and when this doesn't happen you feel exhausted, or as my cardiologist told me when I asked if I could train for a triathlon, "yes go ahead but you will feel like crap and you won't do well!!!"
I would encourage you to keep doing the 16 laps as this is still better than before. It is all so frustrating I can totally sympathise with you.
No, I did not do the triathlon, first I need to get back running. Like the lap swimming, I have to start slowly and build and see how the heart reacts.
It's going to help motivate me. I am just recently back into exercise and feel like such an idiot at times. Especially when I feel like I've achieved a milestone and someone says, that's all you did? Makes me feel like just giving up. But part of my competitive mind wants to prove I can do better, but just for myself.
So, keep it up, and same with everyone. Share your exercise challenges and how far you've gone. I'm a long way, but knowing that others are doing it helps me. It can be possible.
