Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Trying to learn more about this.
If my resting heart rate is typically in mid 40's to mid 50's, and it goes up to mid 80's after eating sugar (cookies--a special treat, as I normally don't eat sugar at all), is that considered a pretty typical thing?
Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but I've never really paid much attention to my heart rate. I'm assuming it is just what happens and a reason to avoid sugar, but nothing that warrants any concern, especially as went down to the norm for me during the next few hours.

I have not gone into afib when I eat it, but I do think I have a few extra pounds from it. And I do believe the extra weight is a detriment to my health for many reasons....afib might be included.
I had Ocular Migraines for 10 yrs or so. Since having afib, for 28 mos. I have Not had an Ocular Migraine!
