Good question. I quit going to the dentist because of the bleeding issue, stupid but effective. Like you, I will anxiously await comments/recommendations.

I had a tooth pulled. They used Epinephrine in the numbing agent. I went into afib and had bad episodes for over a month.

Epinephrine increases heart rate. It is contraindicated for folks with Heart issues. It affects some people more than others. It affected me very badly.

When I go for any procedure that requires numbing, I tell them not to use Epinephrine.

For my tooth extraction I had to stop Pradaxa for 3 days. For a root canal, I did not have to stop it.

For cleaning it was not necessary to discontinue Warfarin. My only dental work since being diagnosed with AF.
For an extraction I would have to discontinue taking warfarin but Im not sure how many days in advance.

thanks so much i will wait fopr some more replys ,

i was told to take amoxyle i hope i got the name right before and after cleaning .

sometimes i feel we have to do our homework ,since i cant trust what they tell us .

Ray- I take the antibiotic AMOX/CLAV before and after cleanings but that because of my hip replacements not AF.
Amoxicillin, (much cheaper) may be just as good. I plan to ask my OS on Thursday.
