Run as fast as you can from that primary doc. An EP is a Cardiologist but with extensive training in electrical conductivity of the heart. Do you have A/Fib???

I was going to type the same thing that Lorie did assuming you have Afib! An EP is certainly more than a tech, it is a cardio doctor to the max! Good luck and never take no for an answer, it is not acceptable!

I agree, you could use a new primary doc. If you are locked in and can't change right now I suggest you work with the cardiologist. Have you actually had an appointment with him, or is your primary doc managing this? See if you can get into see the cardiologist and discuss a referral to an EP with him. If he recommends a referral to an EP your primary will likely go along with it.
That being said...some cardiologists are very good with a fib, and it depends on what you want to do as far as treatment. It sounds like you are in a fib all the time and didn't know it. Many people do just live with it and I think that is how your primary feels...just control your heart rate, end of story. But the other option is to try to get back into regular rhythm by cardioversion, antiarrythmic drugs, or ablation. If you want to pursue that an EP is who you want. Good luck!
