It depends on what type of scan it is and what they are looking for.

I had a ct scan and TEE within hours of my procedure. I was barely out of anesthesia for the TEE when I went for the ablation. Sometimes these ae just hospital procedures and they each have there own set of procedures. If you had contrast with your ct scan for instance and you had a reaction to the dye it would make things less complicated while treating you. They must have had their reason. Why not ask your dr.

Absolutely no reason you can't eat before a CT with contrast. They are only marking the electrical components of the heart that they feel will benefit from ablation....nothing to do with whether you have eaten or not.

I found out that you are not suppose to eat or drink because they are afraid the dye will make you nauseous and they don't want you to vomit and aspirate.

Did anyone experience nausea during the CT?

Also one doc uses MRI instead of CT. Did anyone have that done instead?

I didn't get sick at all.

My EP gave me the choice between MRI or CT scan. The contrast from CT is iodine based and can cause nausea/vomiting. It also can make you feel very hot. The CT scan is much shorter in duration than an MRI but uses radation whereas the MRI does not use radiation. I chose the CT just because it is shorter in duration. I had no problem with the contrast other than feeling hot for a minute or so.

I'm happy that neither tomorrows or RN52 got nauseated. Would hate to have that problem too!
