said ... when I kept using the bathroom during the visit that
he never heard of such a thing and said "You must have
a bladder infection. I wanted to scream.
This guy has excellent credentials and graduated from the
University of Rochester with honors... but I will show him
your answer which is 'greek to me' I can see you have
done a lot of research. Nausea (not vomiting) comes along
with it. My doctor told me NOT to vomit as it makes AFIB
worse so I try not to. Appreciate the validation. This is
such a trying experience. The doctors I went to said there
is no permanent cure but they try and treat the symptoms.

Frequent urination is common for most of us. Paul is right about the hormone. And yes unfortunately there is no permanent cure but meds and or ablation can help get your life back for many of us for awhile. Some more so than others.

I agree...and it the frequency seemed to start pretty quickly upon onset and I had also read of the physiological reasons which Paul mentioned. I think it also might be exacerbated by the nervous tension surrounding an afib episode. I did not have the nausea though. Hope you are doing well Maymitut

Thanks All... I do get nervous when AFIB starts ... at the first
episode in hospital they gave me IV Ativan and I thought I
was going to jump out of skin when it wore off.
My doctor suggests taking it when I get nervous during
afib. I don't want to get hooked...
Yesterday we went to the casino and my afib started up
.. not sure why ... 2nd time it happened... now I am anxious
about going back (maybe just as well) lol
However, no one who has had these attacks fully understand
what it is doing to us. I am tired of people saying : Get
a pacemaker. There is so little information out there.
.. for normal folks and think you can control it with your
mind to stop. Seems there is no rhyme or reason when it
comes. My doctor talks about ablation . I told him I was
on Prolia and have no immunity and whould be worried
about a hospital borne infection like C-DIFF which gets in
via catherers and then he concurred it works best on people
who have had AFIB a short time and have lone atrial fib.
I have fib and flutter..... but honestly the people on this
site have made me feel like I am not losing my mind.

Maymitut: Your cardiologist deals mostly with other issues than afib. Elecrophysiologists specialize in rhythm disorders. I woldn'tt worry about his grade point in college, but rather his knowledge and experience. The fact that he doesn't even know he basic symptoms of afib that are listed on the Heart Rhythm Society's hrsonline.org website says it all. This is afib 101 stuff. Here is what the HRS society says:

"The symptoms of AF include:
Feeling over-tired or a lack of energy (most common)
Pulse that is faster than normal or changing between fast and slow
Shortness of breath
Heart palpitations (feeling like your heart is racing, pounding or fluttering)
Trouble with everyday exercises or activities
Pain, pressure, tightness or discomfort in your chest
Dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting
Increased urination (using the bathroom more often)

Those are the 8 basic symptoms.

Hi Maymitut. Isn't this group the greatest! I have gotten the most help from the people here than from anywhere else. And the emotional support is priceless. I have the same frequency problem that you speak of but not the nausea. I'm certainly grateful for that. My doctor says the same thing as yours- no cure but hopefully control No promises.My goodness I haven't had any episodes yet at the casino and hope I don"t although since we've been going a lot lately I woild probably save a fortune. Oh can I relate to both the frequent urination and nausea! I hadn't had problems with it until recently, and not every time, just the "hard" episodes when I felt like I would pass out. I don't tend to get real nervous about it unless it gets "bad" and goes on for more than a few hours so I find it hard to think it's anxiety as the major cause.

*grins*. And now it sounds like they'll have to add "casinos" to the lengthening like of triggers!
