Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I am glad my naturopaths never kept me that long I would be brain dead. My insurance paid so they were just 30-60 min. long on weekly basis. Nowmthey are notcovered so I keep them short to save money as I already an established patient. My game plan was to change one meal at a time and don't beat yourself up for missteps, it will happen.
Glad your wife is on board for support.

Yes, I agree...my wife also said that she KNOWS I will not have the willpower to change everything at one time. Slow and tiny steps.
I forgot to add that he did recommend 3 very quick and easy changes for us folks with heart issues:
1) magnesium supplements (I thinik most if not all of us here are on them);
2) get much more fresh air (that one had something to do with yeast growth?);
3) lemon water with cayenne

The simple answer is: Don't eat crappy foods.
You are on the right track, I have many health issues and I am sure I would not be here had I not worked on my eating habits year's ago. I am still a work in progress!
Wih I could get my husband on board keep up the good work your wife wants you around. (Most times!)

When dirt guy first posted, I was very interested in what he had to say, but he was so mean...and then my wife, who is the real researcher in the family, told me that you have to be VERY careful with the use of bentonite...so I said, well, no dirt. But dirt is actually sounding like a better alternative than NEVER eating pizza or ice cream again! As Laura said, small steps...while I can appreciate eating only stuff that is good for you....ugh! I did try the lemon water and cayenne this evening. Not too bad. ONE small step in the right direction.
Petey,
Thanks for the list. There is a bunch of stuff on there that I can handle! Shrimp covered lobster sounds like a winner!

Yeah, my guy also wants me to take like 4000 mgs of vitamin C. My acupuncture lady was saying I should check and see if I was taking too many supplements (currently 12), and now he is giving me a bunch more. I guess we won't even discuss chelation until he sees I am serious about making some changes....perhaps if I do, the palpatations will disappear and I won't need the chelation anyway. Fingers crossed.

I think your naturopath is right, as in the course of my search for getting rid of afib I went through all the stuff you noted above. I did the all the cleanses you noted. I still take the suppliments noted, mainly:
non-flush niacin
Vit B complex
magnesium (pico magnesium)
ubiquinol, ribose, l-carnitine (as Dr. Sinatra recommends)
Omega 3 fish oil from wild salmon
Vit D, C, & E
A good multi vit, that does not have iron
Calcium, magnesium, Vit D, & zinc bone mixture
Not every day, but about 4 days a week.
I also had ALL my amalgam filings removed and replaced with non-amalgam types. Did a liver cleanse, sweated many times in an infared sauna.
To me, it really makes sense that over a lifetime toxins accumulate in the body and need to be removed. Also, that no one can say they get "ideal" nutrition, so it is not surprising that we may become deficient in some key nutrients. Modern farming depletes trace minerals in the soil so many of the foods we get now don't have the trace minerals that they had 40 years ago.
Gluten is a big one for me. The arthritis in my ankles gets so bad I can't take a step without huge pain if I eat any gluten. I don't know if it is the GMO issue or our bodies change over the years, but experience now tells me to delete ALL grains from my diet if I want to walk pain free. It takes about 3 weeks for those to clear my system. Try reading "Wheat Belly" for a discussion about grains in general and gluten in particular. Even non-gluten grains such as oatmeal is a huge inflammatory for me. And I love Scottish Oatcakes.
It took years for me to find this stuff out. I think its great you got it all in a 3 hour session. Big time saver, I think. The changes are not all that hard, once you look at the alternatives. Takes time to get used to it, especially grains. By the way, I do eat the rice alternatives and have no problem with those. Such as rice based spaghetti and other rice baked products. Sugar also is a big one for me to. My naturopath told me sugar itself also is an inflammatory.
But I'd rather control inflammation with diet and food (ginger and other anti-inflamatory foods) rather than take the meds.
Just my preference.
Cheers,
Doug.
Want some pizza? Have a slice of pizza! Just don't eat the whole pie. Want some ice cream? Have a small bowl, just don't eat the whole quart. Sparingly, and in moderation, I don't think pizza or ice cream will kill you.
Hoping you can find a cocktail of meds/supplements that will help with your palps.
Lemons start out in your mouth VERY acidic (I believe in your stomach they somehow turn moderately alkaline) and it erodes the enamel on your teeth and makes them sensitive. Brushing your teeth afterwards is effective at getting the acids off but be careful NOT to overdo it. Xylitol is very effective at getting your mouth PH back to alkaline, I believe.
