Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I just thought I'd put up a quick post regarding people's experiences and subsequent to AF - modifications/alterations regarding caffeine & alcohol.
No doubt this subject has likely come up before.
Obviously, both are well known "potential" triggers as well as "diuretics" but like everything else involving this AF gig, I'm sure everyone's reaction and tolerance levels to these two substances is different and/or may well vary.
BTW: I'm certainly not referring to excessive usage of either.

I gave up both caffeine after I was hospitalized the first time (FEB 2011), and alcohol until recently. My last ablation was SEP 2011, and have just in the last month partaking alcohol again.
Red wine is a trigger for me... nevertheless I limit myself to 1 glass or no more than 2 glasses in a 5 hr period. Seems like I've learned to nurse it along...

PS: I took some nose spray when I was stuffy on evening, and it made AFIB come back in ~ 10 minutes... and lasted more than 5 hours.
