Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Become part of a clinical trial?

I was just called by the hospital and they asked if I wanted to be part of a clinical trial using pressure sensitive catheters. It sounds good. It's called Toccastar: Tacticath by Endosense. I think it's approved in Europe, trying to get FDA approval. Sounds like it could be better. I would have 50% chance of getting the new catheter.

What do you think??

Salwah is a female and very, very knowledgeable. I would go to either of the 2, Andrea Natale (A guy who is Italian) or Dr Reddy. I pulled the contact info off the Heart Rhythm Society Website. Thanks all for getting the right addresses. When you talk to their assistants, you talk to very knowledgeable people that, although they don't "perform" the ablations, they know everything that is going on and have the time and temperament to help you. They are aware of all the treatments and the latest. petey

I agree with your assessments totally. I figured I wouldn't be able to talk to the docs themselves, the assistants are fine. I still can't connect with Salwah, am continuing to try.

One thing Dr. Reddy's asst told me is that cryo is falling out of favor. They are noticing the return of a fib after it. I was going to suggest that my doc do the cryo...
