Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Did you go to your backpacking trip to South America with your sons? I remember you were planning for it a while ago.
I thought that sounded a little crazy, but then again, may be not judging by your name here LOL.
If you went, how did it go? How did you handle the hiking with the backpack and possibly the afib? I hope well and I hope you had fun.
I did one backpacking trip, when I went to a very bad afib after drinking some Gatorade. It was not fun at all. I made it back okay but at times it was scary coming at the verge of fainting in the middle of nowhere and 35 lb on my back.
It was the potassium in the Gatorade which I was sensitive to it. I found that out 6 months later.
Any way, I hope you are doing well and have been able to tame your afib :-)
