Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I'm sure what I'm feeling is nothing new to many of you. I worry about everything....and being in a-fib just makes it worse and worse!
I'm waiting for the results of a nuclear stress test right now. Cardio prescribed Xanax 0.25mg for me to take as needed.
Sad thing is....I'm worried about taking it! I know some of you have experience with this drug and I'm wondering if you recommend it for someone who worries a lot?
I went into afib last night, and the cardio says this time the trigger is definitely STRESS. Time to do something about all this worrying!
So, should I take a Xanax while I'm still in afib? I'm thinking I'll start with a half dose just to see what it does.
Can anyone "talk me down" a bit here tonight???

I live in Tennessee, and for whatever reason most doctors will look at you like some kind of drug fiend if you ask for Xanax, I guess it has something to do with state laws - if a medication can possibly be abused by anyone, it's almost impossible to get a prescription for it. So since I've lived here I've been forced by the state legislature to handle my anxiety the old fashioned way: by not doing anything about it. I've noticed that there are a lot of anxious people in this state...
It is sad that people who abuse meds make it hard for the ones who use them proper. When exercise, relaxation therapy or biofeedback does not work I am glad to have a backup.
