Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Amiodarone and sleep issues?

Ever since one week from starting on Amiodarone and Coumadin more than one month ago, I have had problems sleeping. Usually I can fall asleep at night but then I wake up after 1-3 hours and have problems getting any more sleep. If I take 15mg Restoril I can get 3-4 hours sleep then I wake up.
My Cardiologist says it would be unusual if the Amiodarone was causing this and he is reluctant to provide more Restoril.
Anyone else with Amiodarone have a similar experience?

Abnormal skin sensations (loss of sensation; tingling; numbness; prickling); bitter taste in mouth; blue-green discoloring of skin (especially hands or feet); constipation; decreased sexual interest; dizziness; dry eyes; flushing of the face; general body discomfort; headache; involuntary muscle movements; loss of appetite; nausea; poor coordination; tiredness; trouble sleeping; vomiting.

Yes, I have sleep issues too. Feel sleepy then can't sleep once in bed. Wake up every couple hours. Need to nap in the afternoon. I didn't connect it to the amiodarone but you may be right.

Yes!!! I could not sleep at all when I was on amioderone. I felt wired all of the time. I had to get a prescription for a sleeping pill and still barely slept. My EP said it can "mess with your thyroid" and thus cause sleep problems. When it was discontinued, it took a few weeks before my sleep returned to normal because it takes a long time for it to get out of your system.
