Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Yes, I do feel that being on Pradaxa removes a lot of my anxiety during an episode - and I was so afraid to take it, at first!
As you can see from the responses, there's no such thing as "normal" or "usual" when it comes to afib - we all have to adjust in our own way - there's no right way to act, imo.
Take care.
I read the same book and I've been following Dr. Esselstyn's program as well. My bp has dropped dramatically and I've lost quite a bit of weight. For a while I sort of slipped off the program and within weeks noticed that my weight was going back up, my bp went back up, and I had my first afib attack in over a year. I'm back on the program now for life. It's working great for me and I've been steadily reducing my dosage of medications (under doctor's orders). For me the book and the program have been a great success and I feel like I'm starting to get my life back on track.
The challenge is getting enough protein (and knowing how much is enough).

I did buy the new I watch that keeps track of your heart rate and vibrates when your in afib., it also takes a 30 second ekg and sends to pdf file which you can email to your cardiologist . It is comforting . Also if you need to use the bathroom at night sit on the side of the bed a few minutes before jumping out of bed and walk slowly to bathroom! Dee
I take a product called ReMag for my afib. It is a magnesium supplement. Got off all the medical drugs. Had cardioversion in November 2019. Was taking heart medicine until 4 weeks ago. Started taking ReMag 2 months ago.
From what I have read on drcarolyndean.com , magnesium deficiency is the cause of afib.
I haven't had any afib since the cardioversion.
