Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Given an event monitor yesterday. Supposed to last 14 days. Was told it would probably only last 11. It lasted 7 hours. It came off while I was running. Got it back on. I was told I could run with it. Guess not. I haven't felt anything since I got it. No news is good news?
A friend of mine ran the 50k National championship this last weekend. It was snowing with temperatures around 20 degrees. He slipped and fell twice in the last part of the race. The second time he was just short of the finish line and crawled across the line. He's 80 and missed the American record for 80 yo by 8 seconds. Guys like him inspire me to get out there and keep trying.
