Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

AFIB, AFIB Meds and Libido

I have symptomatic AFIB which is well controlled by the Meds Flecainide and Metoprolol. I think we all all agree that when in AFIB the last thing one might be interested in is sex. I am in NSR almost all of the time with the above meds, but it has come at a cost - no libido. Has anyone been in this particular boat and how did you deal with it.

Re; Libido I never thought I would make this statement but at 78 like Willy Nelson I guess I'm just outliving it. I think this issue is more difficult for men than women. I'm surprised when I see the gray hair and wrinkles in the mirror. I feel young.
In my life as a single woman I've enjoyed many satisfying sexual relationships. In aging my lack of interest does make life less complicated but ----"it's not over till it's over." For whatever reasons I find myself smiling while writing this post.
