I wear one. My feeling is (heaven forbid) I should ever be in the position I cannot communicate in an emergency situation it might make all the differnce if doctors know what meds you are on and what chronic medical conditions you might have.

Lung issues would need to be considered, I am sure, if any sugery would have to be performed...also, knowing what meds you are on can help prevent from getting any other meds that might react negatively to the ones you are already taking.

With the allergies you have, I would say it is better to be safe than sorry!

i have one if i'm ever alone and some thing happens at leats they now were to start and if you can't breath you can't talk. they have ones you can put on you keys i put mine on aneckless but not the chain it came with because of allergies and it is cool you can also make it part of everyday offet check it out you can get one that fits you you don't have to have a bracelette......

I wear two medic alert braclets. I wear one around my neck and one on my wrist. The both say that i ahve severe steriod dependant asthma and also say what im allergic to. The medic alert foundation who i got mine through are great. they also ahve a copy of my protcol which i sent them so that if there is an emergency there is always someone wit strict instrcutions of what to do.
My medic alert has saved my life on nmerous occassions. I never take them off. paramedics and peopel always know to look for them as they are widly used. I woudl be here today if it wasnt for my medic alert so to anyoine who is tinking if getting one i really recommend it. If you shop around for a bit you can get really nice ones that dont look that bad. you can get some that are just the tag that will go on charm bracelets. there are alo f different companies who do them.

Thanks guys! I'll have to look into finding a nice one to wear then! I always felt a little dorky thinking of wearing one for just Asthma and a couple of more "minor" drug allergies, but your right, it saves a lot of heartache should you be unable to communicate! They have to premedicate me for my MVP, and I always have to use my inhaler before surgery; guess it would be of more benefit to me than I thought!

Its saved my life on more than one occasion. Particularily for asthma and a severe allergy to bees and peanuts. One of the times I was playing rugby, collaspsed and unconsious from lack of air (didn't help that I got smashed in the head either) but the fact that I had to argue with the referee to keep my bracelet on was a matter of life and death. If the parimedics hadn't read it, I could of died, because nobody knew what to do. There was another time when I got stung by a bee and didn't have my epipen with me and went into anaphalaxic shock, my friends freaked and called the ambulance. Thank god they were fast and knew what to administer because of the bracelet.

So by all means, get one!

A medical ID bracelet is a must for anyone with any severe medical condition. I actually had an asthma attack and didn't know I was having one because oxygen wasn't getting to my brain. My heart actually stopped with that attack. I know a couple ppl asked if I was ok but I couldn't really respond. Maybe if I had one I would have gotten help earlier ... I'm 33 now this happened with I was only 20 year old. WAY to young to die.

My worst fear with my new diagnosis was that I would stop breathing and I would have my kids with me. So my med alert bracelet says "check wallet" at the bottom. I have a bright purple med alert wallet and in it I have three pages - the first has pics of my kids, the second has all of the names and numbers of people that can come and get my kids and the third has all my meds, allergies and doctor info. It makes me feel better about venturing out. The wallet is on a long string, so when we go out without my purse, I just hang it around my neck.

Danika: that's such a smart idea! I'm one of those people who can't seem to carry a purse around if I'm out walking, riding my bike, or shopping for long periods of time. I like the wallet on a chain method! Where were you able to find one?

Danika: Thanks for the site! Those are awsome! I'm still waiting for my medical ID from Tuesday's order. :( That's OK, as long as it gets here before I run off to camping this year and all of my allergies start to hit!

I don't wear one because it kept being a focal point when I met people. This really pissed me off. It's supposed to be for emergencies not for just anyone to ask "what's wrong with me?"

I don't want to be humiliated or have friendships depend upon my personal business.

I'm allergic to every antibiotic. I think that would scare most people.
