Today was World Autism Awareness Day. I spent the day at work (Toys R Us, Autism Speaks' main sponsor) asking specifically for donations.

While I had other "goals" that I easily reach because I'm top in cashier sales, I set a goal of $100 to earn for Autism Speaks. I reached it right at the end. I got my other "goals" but my boss gave me that "you are weird, but awesome" look they give me when I told him I wasn't kidding that I got $100 just for Autism and informed him it was World Autism Awareness Day.

When I informed him I guess it sounded like a random fact and I realized there was awkward tension. He doesn't know I have AS, they all just think I'm weird, but "awesomely weird". Oh well.

Toys R Us is matching EVERY dollar to go to research with Autism Speaks and 100% goes to the cause, no administration fee.

Therefore, I technically got $200 tonight....and a bunch more people know about World Autism Awareness Day. =)

Congrats! Wish everyone took as much initative as you do! I know that there are more out there. We just need to speak up. I am speaking up for my daughter. As she is still to young to speak up for her self! Thanks!

Nest time we are in Toys R Us we will Smile at the Boss and Hope it is yours and Say Thanks We are the FACE of Autism!
