Fifty seven and diagnosed at 49 son of 21 both Aspies. I was lucky I had 49 years passing as normal. Was a lawyer et al but was found out and er crap hit fans.

I think I have Aspergers syndrome but have not been officially diagnosed. I'm 60 and have extreme stress in social situations. I had a problem from 1st grade til now. many years of counseling and read many books on socializing. Hey, thanks Everyone. I guess I am not alone! I was given a tentative diagnosis of Asperger's in December of 2011. I went to a psychologist because I'd suspected for a long time. She only gave me the Autism Spectrum Quotient (I'm told it's on the internet) and didn't offer much help. June 2 I'm going to a Psychology practice in a larger city 3 hours a way to get more tests. The practice that I'm going to supposedly specializes in adult aspergers. For me it is important to know for sure as it will explain a lot of things. I've been in therapy off and on since I've been 25. Started with treatment for alcoholism. Also struggled with an eating disorder and work and social problems back them. Anxiety and depression have gotten worse in the last 12 years...I've got some physical health problems as well, but social problems and processing information have been my biggest struggles. My biggest hurdle so far wit h the AS is that not many therapists in the small city in the midwest that I live in fully understand adult Autism/Aspergers, only kids. The last therapist I went to (who I saw for a year and leaned more towards being abusive than helpful) had a 23 year old son with Aspergers so she told me she understood. The only thing she told me to do was to accept this and go on! Anyway, I look forward to talking with people who understand as well.

I am 45 - not officially diagnosed but my son has been; I've takened online tests that strongly suggest I am an Aspie..I will seek a formal diagnoses for myself.
