I have been an aspie ally life. I know what it like to be called a weirdo, oddball, space cadet, and freak man many times. O now am full of happyness and joy. You can know this too.You are not alone I am one of you. From an aspie who has made it, you can make it too.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Thanks for adding positive messages to the aspies here - the board tends to be very negative and discouraging.
I could not love this person more or less, if he did or didn't have AS. I think he is who he is, a loving, caring, special, and deeply loyal person. So are all you on here who have AS, as well as those of us here that don't. We are all ppl, trying to do the best we can, with what we have.
Thank you all so much! You are a sense of strength for me, that no one else could be, or would even understand. To me,you all are true heroes with great courage!

Telling me (or any aspie) that although we are aspies, we're just as wonderful as everyone else, and that it's okay to be ourselves (flaws and all)! I think that it's very hard for an aspie to truly be themselves without feeling either out of place, out of order, or somehow misunderstood, but if someone whom we deem as special told us it's okay for us to be ourselves around them, it would mean the world! When you do talk to your aspie loved one, let them know that, and see the positive reactions you receive from them!
Be well!

I would have to answer "NO". I like who I am, and I spent my entire life being Me. Sure there are some bad traits, or ones that sometimes cause problems, but there are other traits that make us really great, really interesting, very caring, loyal, honest and determined individuals. Now that I know what my shortcomings are, I can begin to cope with the problematic traits; and also take more advantage of the great things about being me.
I am a great person because of my AS and I want to stay the way I am. I like being me now that I know who and what I am : )
Trinity and Why - thanks for the posts I will use this info with my son.
kysmit - how lucky for your partners child that you are there!
I would not give my son a pill to change him. I love him the way he is. Its not about changing him to me its about making sure he knows I love I him and how awesome he is. He is awesome! He has the most wonderful ideas!
