HONESTY.

I am a vary direct and honest man. At times these things together seem harsh and people tthink I am mean even when I'm just telling things as they are. Honesty is a hard thing to live with and not accepted by all. Asperger's has me wired up truely odd and strange already and sometimes honesty makes things more complex.

The person who invented the phrase "honesty is the best policy" is clearly full of shit. Being honest with people has caused me to lose more friends than it has in gaining them and building trust. Should I betray my feelings and lie to people all the time? Should I wear the mask that people wear everyday? How could I live with myself? Apparently a world full of truth is a very lonely place.

I always ask, "do you want a nice answer or the brutally honest truth?" when asked for my opinion.

I don't speak much at all as avoidance but one time I said the truth, which I thought was appropriate, and everyone got quiet and gave me looks. I asked later and apparently what I said was really mean.

Truthfully, one of the things I love the most about my son is that he is so honest!! More people need to be honest. If the didn't want to hear the truth then they probably shouldn't ask. But if they truly appreciate you for the remarkable person you are, they will appreciate your outlook on things.
