Asperger Syndrome Support Group
Asperger syndrome - also referred to as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger's, Aspergers or just AS - is one of five neurobiological pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), and is characterized by deficiencies in social and communication skills, normal to above normal intelligence, and standard language development.

To the website and to this group. I am a girl who just turned 25. I have been diagnosed with high-functioning Asperger's Syndrome since the age of about 8 years old. I saw this group and was curious to join and see what some other Aspies are into. I have a few friends who have Asperger's, but none of us really have much in common. What are the things you all are most obsessed with?
For me, it's probably animation. I am into all animation, but I get particularly into and emotional about things produced or made by Walter Elias Disney. This has also caused me to become semi-obsessed with puppetry and audio-animatronics, since my parents have been taking me to Disney World from a young age.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

To answer your question - I had a number since being a child and some have persisted (I'm now 58).
I was first interested in butterflies & moths from about 6 - I still go out and record butterflies for our conservation society. For the last few years I trap moths (and release them again).
In my teens I got interested in plants, particularly alpines and species cyclamen - I now have a greenhouse stuffed with plants.
Late teens I got really interested in music and that is now my main occupation - less an obsession I think because that is probably a lot commoner.
Re puppetry, I remember as a child (and later) enjoying the "super marionation" of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson.
I was similar as a child! I loved animals, insects, plants and dinosaurs. I wanted to either be a paleontologist when I grew up or a zoologist. I also liked fish a lot. I went through changes too, though. I still get excited over the things I loved as a little girl, but I spend more time now focusing on writing, reading, watching animated features, drawing, animating, learning about Walter Elias Disney (and a few others) and observing puppet shows... That is, when I'm not watching Disney Parks Attractions videos or actually having fun at the parks myself.
I don't think I have ever heard of "Super Marionation". :O What was that about?
The puppet show I watched most often when I was a child was "Dinosaurs" and I still love it as much as I did back then... "Not the mama!" lol
