I am in need of my second go round with synvisc. My doc did the one time injection as it works just as well and you only get one shot of the stuff. It was great! My knee was pain free for, geez, must be over 6 months now. It is now acting up again and I need to get in to get another shot of synvisc. Depending on your knee problem, it can really help a lot. I was amazed! I will go for it again in hopes of putting off another knee replacement for a while yet. Besides, I need to get the ankle fused first. SIgh. Good luck with yours!

I had a second round of synvisc and it helped more than the surgery did. My only negative comment is that if your balance isn't good and you've waited for two hours to see the ortho guy to tell him the synvisc worked, don't get dressed without holding on to something. I have balance "issues" due to CFS and I fell and got a concussion. At least there were medical people nearby.
I mentioned that it wouldn't have happpened if I had my Golden retriever with me. She senses the state of my balance and stays near me outside when it's iffy. She doesn't fetch, doesn't like water but she is very in tune with my balance. What an amazing creature she is. I thank God for her every day.
According to the ADA, I can take her anywhere. She doesn't need special training or any certificate. I can take her into any public building and they cannot refuse to allow her in.
I got off topic but I love to write.
This swelling and pain is all normal. should only last a few days.
I also have a service dog. Her name is Valetine. She retrieves things for me and helps me make my bed. I also have nerve damge from artharits in my back so I can not bend. She is a bichapoo. She doesn't shed, Is hypoallergenic my husband, children an mayself are allergic and have asthma. she is Super smart and easy to train. wants to please loves to lay with me, go hunting with my husband and sons, chase thier snowmobiles, She doesn't bark. She Is an awsome dog. She keeps me company, decreases my constant pain, and keeps depression at bay. Yet my extended family wants nothing to do with her or my family because she isn't your typical service dog. They think I should have a german shepard or lab which would make me and my family sick and due to my weakend leg from many surgeries and severe arthartis, recent thumb joint recunstruction and severe osteoarthartis in my hands, wrist and fingers, and carpel tunnel, fybromalgia, torn ligaments in my wrist from a recent car accident. no sense of balance do to debilitating pain and numbness on the entire right side of my body due to severe nerve damage i would be unable to care or control that large of animal. We are no longer invited to my sisters or parents home or any of thier celebrations or homes. At our last outing over 6 months ago y father has yelled at me called me stupid and an idiot in public fand in front of my children for me having valentine with me. Even though she remained under my chair the entire time and never made a noise. The waitress said she didn't even know she was there. Also my father, sisters and thier children never vistied me or helped me or my family in the last three years when I was hurt in a car accident, had six surgeries, several spinal procedures, bedreddin with severe nerve damage, anemiac, and so sick with gastarits I had to get IV fluids and medication to stop vomiting and an ulcer. Although I have always been there for them emotionaly, phyically, and financialy.
