.... What treatment options are available? I was just diagnosed with Osteoarthritis (I think that's right) and the inflamation is compressing my Sciatica Nerve causing additional consistant pain in my lower back, hips, and legs. Now things get complicated as I am taking Warfarin for PE's and will be on Warfarin for life. My GP has prescribed 200 mgs of Celebrex once a day with specific stretches. Not sure about this medication with all the possible sided affects. GP said Celebrex would not affect Warfarin and we will monitor it closely. This is all new and confusing. Comments.

I have had OA for 13 years and have awful reactions to most medications. I found Celebrex was an exception and it was wonderful but I am afraid they have taken it off the market in the UK - don't know why.

Thank you for replying. We have tv ads that go in depth about Celebrex and other over the counter meds like Motrin. The biggest risk is cardiovascular concerns with all the meds like Celebrex.

If you don't mind me asking your dosage of Celebrex. The meds and stretching help a lot but I do still have pain and I was wondering about the dosage.

I hope you were able to find something to help with pain relief.

When my sciatic nerve is really bothering me, I go to my chiropractor because he can have me lie on stomach and adjust my back and also put ice on it afterwards. It feels wonderful to me. My sister takes Celebrex and thinks it is the miracle drug. She has had no side effects since she h as begun being on it; but, she is not on Warfarin. My only problem with it is that my insurance won't pay for it and I can't afford to pay out of pocket for it. Good luck and keep writing us. Pepper

Pepper I have read that seeing a chiropractor could be beneficial for back pain. Our insurance actually will pay for a certain number of visits a calendar year. Certainly worth mentioning to my doctor. I have never seen a chiroprator before - funny thing is my bil is a chiropractor turned home improvement contractor. Not sure why. Do tell you mentioned you feel good after that. How often do you go?

I can relate to the cost of the Celebrex, with out insurance 30 pills would have cost $145. With insurance they were $33, but we have a mail order program that I can get a 90 day supply for $65. I just get worried about the "possible" side affects.

I do seem to be felling better after a few days on the meds. I can tell if I don't do the right stretches. I also can feel when I have sat around too long so if I get up and get involved in something. Of course there are times that I need a little extra help from a heating pad.
