I was on celebrex for a few months and had to stop because of bad tummy upsets and bloating.
I also have a friend that was badly affected by stomach problems whilst on it.
Seems to be best to avoid this one. I currently take 15mg mobic and humira injections.
I am not pain free , but better than before.

I was on it abut 3 months ago for 2 weeks. The first week I felt terrific the second week the pain came back along with the muscle pain. I went back to the Dr. and asked him what the muscle pain was from...he didn't know...sent me to a RA specialist and found out I have Fibro. they took me off of Celebrex.

I still have the pain in my muscles and now they tell me I have osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.

They are giving me 120 mg of Cymbalta...last night was my first night on 120 mg. Before it was 30 mg then increased it to 60 mg. The 120 didn't do anything for me but I will give it 2 weeks.

My brother was on celebrex for 2 years when he broke his foot. The Dr. told him to read everything he could on it. Anyway he didn't and started to have chest pains and had a heart attack...had by pass surgery and the Dr. told him to get off of celebrex.

I don't understand. I take celebrex and haven't heard anything of a recall.

I can't function without Celebrex! No stomach upsets and all my recent blood work looks great. Why a recall? Is it local or regional?

I've been taking for it for a month and it doesn't upset my stomach like the other NSAIDs. This is an old post, not sure why there's a recall.

I was on Celebrex for five years , right before it was recalled/ taken off the market .... I just went to the doctor today and she gave me samples of none other than CELEBREX , I was shocked , I question her about it's safey , she had no comment .... I remember I had a lot of heart problems at the time i was on it before, BUT I don't know if it was caused from celebrex or not .... I think all drugs have side affects and our bodys all react differently to the same med... i hope it works this time with-out side-affects....good luck to you , I will let you know how it works for me ... I think they (FDA) cleared celebrex by insisting on a black box warning about cardiac disease. Bextra (second generation celebrex) was taken off the market permanently. I was on celebrex, changed to bextra which was marvelous, and then switched back to celebrex. I then developed stomach ulcers despite being on nexium. Goodbye celebrex and hello pain! tried tramadol with no relief and it made me very thirsty. So it is tough it out with opiates as a backup.. Also trying water exercise and therapy. More good days than bad but frustrating. Can really tell when the weather is going to change.

I'v been on Celebrex for a few weeks now .... I'v had some unusual bleeding .... My pain is alittle less tho ... Also I just recieved a letter stating my insurance will not cover my prescription for it ... So I'm back to square ONE ! It's hopless ....

When did they recall celebrex?

When I was first diagnosed with arthritis 13 yrs ago my doc put me on celebrex. I found it to be a useless drug - did nothing to relieve my pain or inflammation. i took it for about a year before bad reports came out on it and I stopped it immediately. it's not banned in australia but it's certainly not a popular drug.

It was recalled several years ago due to cardiac disease that had not been anticipated when it was first put on the market. It was reinstated with a black box warning.

It was my BFF until I had ulcers. Needless to say, no more. Thankdully, the ulcers have healed:)

I've been taking Celebrex for over 13 years. It really helps me, and I always take it with food. It did make my liver enzymes go up, but I started taking Milk Thistle every day and now they are fine. If I'm having a bad few days, my doc said I could take it twice a day for a week or so.
