Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction.
I am new to these boards. I have recently been diagnosed with possible RA. I am still waiting to get into the Rheumotologist office for my initial visit. I am in a tremendous amount of pain. I am having a hard time sleeping because of the pain. So I am thinking about getting a new bed. I was thinking about a water bed. Has anybody had any luck one way or the other with a water bed?
My father had a mild case of polio as a child. As a result of that he had so many back problems. he had home traction and I often saw him struggle to walk. My parents later bought a water bed, and he was able to throw away the traction and never had any more back problems. From that moment on he was able to walk like anybody else. no limp or anything.
I sure would appreciate any feed back or thoughts on this topic.

Many years ago I had the water bed with the adjustable tubes and could never get it just right. After that I had sleep number which would have been great if I wasn't sharing it. The pressure would change with husband getting up and down. I finally realized I needed a separate mattress and sheet. So we bought two twin XL , I the tempurpedic and him a mattress that feels like a brick! Anyway we have them side by side w/separate sheets. I would like the adjustable tempurpedic but that is real expensive! Otherwise I'm am sleeping with a lot less pain.
