Leslie and Debi, I'm new here, but not to Daily Strength, as well and am wondering the same thing. I was, literally, just diagnosed with PAD this past Monday- June 24th. I'll be having stents put in the main artery of both legs on July 1st. I've had heart stents 3 times, so stents are familiar to me, but I'm searching for answers as to what to expect. It's good to meet both of you. I'll be finishing up my profile between this evening and the next day or so.

I suffer from PAD and have had 3 surgeries on my right leg. The first surgery lasted about 9 years before it re-occluded (is that a word?) and I had the second surgery this past March. I was not put on blood thinners and my leg re-occluded again in May. During the second surgery I went into AFib for about 6 hours and I'm sure this attributed to my reclotting and the third surgery. I have a Dacron tube replacing my femoral artery and have also had a popliteal graft twice, the first kinked because they used some type of tube behind the knee and not a vein. I don't know how many stents are in there and I'm still trying to sort out all the stuff that happened to me. Anyway that said, good luck to you all. I wish they had a way of dissolving clots before opening us up. Please proceed cautiously if possible.

I too am wondering if this is the right place for PAD. I think it is. I Googled Arteriosclerosis and found this information:

So we're in the right place.

I was feeling pain in my legs, after walking a few yards my legs felt as though I had walked a hundred miles. I Googled my symptoms and came up with PAD. I mentioned PAD to my doctor when I gave him my symptoms. He sent me for an ultrasound. The technician said that although she wasn't a doctor she told me that the blood wasn't flowing right in my legs and that I may have to see a vascular surgeon. I then had a CT scan of my legs and have an appointment for another test (probably another ultrasound) at the vascular surgeon's office.

I'm hoping that it isn't serious and that a stent would fix me up. I'm glad I found you here. It's going to be easier when discussing things with others who are going through the same thing.
